☂Not that anyone will actually see this, but you might or might not have gotten the reference above...anyway. Please do note that this online journal has been fighting the battle of neglect and time, often on the losing end, and really does feel like some sort of blue elephant that one's got to keep somewhat alive. For the sake of tradition, I suppose. (K) Yuan here. linkageblue birds flap fandoms + happiness + the lot where the ego centersit's all quite narcissistic, really. |
Date: <$BlogDateHeaderDate$> flew with a starry night and i fell for itribbleramblescribblescrambledingledanglejinglejanglewinkleswrinklesyengomangoqintopintopinterribbleramblescribblescrambleshimbleshamble Hello, Back from Maldives (two days ago), back from Bintan (nine days ago), aaaaand back from Hong Kong (two whole bloody months ago). Not boasting or anything (no, really, I ain't.), but three vacations this holiday is, well, evidence of ... i don't really know what. But anyway, Maldives was gorgeous (save for the salty sea water), Bintan Clubmed was really meh, and Hong Kong was just... messy. Stepped right off the plane to find a more crowded Singapore with even less breathing space. Luckily it was only to fetch my grandma back to Singapore. (she's here with us! :D) And the Republic of Maldives certainly is a curious country. I mean, nearly all you hear about them are about the scenery, the ocean, the environment, but hardly about the people. And thus I find myself asking, probably for the first time in any other country, about their politics, people, biodiversity, lifestyles and all. Pretty fascinating stuff too. And this is probably another indication of excitement over my Humanities subjects, but it really really is wonderous. Good people too. Was also secretly hoping to pop by India on a short detour back home buut only the subconscious can testify that. (i love that country) Anyway, been keeping busy and lazy. Currently downloading Torchwood (omnisexuals FTW :D), watched The Hour on the plane (Andrew Scott!), and watching the Granda telly Sherlock Holmes series on youtube. Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwicke are the best Holmes and Watson ever. (Victorian lah. Cumberbatch + Freeman are an entirely different matter altogether ;) ) I didn't really like David Burke; his performance was a tad too stiff for my liking. And Basil Rathbone deserved a lot more than the crap he had to play with and around. What really annoyed me was Nigel Bruce's Watson, really. He wasn't an absolute idiot; he was a common man, yes, but has his abilities too.
Jeremy Brett brought out the essence of Holmes, and balanced Holmes' madman side with a gentleman perfectly, with a cold heart of reasoning which was not uncappable of sympathy and warmth, too. Hardwicke gave Holmes a friend; a gentleman, an audience, and a heart. And they roll together with just the right amount of chemistry that I felt they did in the canon books.
AND AS FOR BBC SHERLOCK...
It goes without saying. ;)
Going out with Sajma soon (War Horse! ;D), so adieu! ALLON-SY! (K)
P.S

794 year old tea-drinking oddity, decidedly mature and child. Vaguely thespian, Singapore, girls' school foundations. Writes a bit and pretends a lot. Floats in brillance from people like Regina Spektor, Damien Rice, Keane, Lisa Hannigan etc. Agnostic pantheist, and very married to Benedict Cumberbatch. Liberal + feminist, i guess. Books are eternal, and Indian+local literature is lovely. Considerably fond of all things geek, elephant, and astronomy. Also an absolute fangirl/shipper of all things BBC Sherlock, Granada Holmes, Doctor Who, Simon Amstell, Catherine Tate, Jeremy Brett and canonical Holmes.
I sleep a lot and like the English a bit too much. (as evident)
